Matt “Kelly” Williams
Matt “Kelly” Williams is the founder of Making Software Greener and CEO of the Sustainable IT Manifesto Foundation. He helps engineering teams understand how architecture, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, AI, performance, cost, and sustainability are often the same systems problem viewed from different angles.
With more than three decades in IT, Kelly has worked across software architecture, operations, DevOps, and cloud computing, focusing on the hidden inefficiencies and operational patterns that quietly shape modern systems. He serves on the advisory board of the Green Computing Foundation and speaks internationally on sustainable software, developer agency, resilience, and systems thinking.
Kelly believes waste is a bug, architecture matters, and every system eventually reveals the decisions embedded within it.
When not exploring the intersection of technology and sustainability, he can usually be found reading, photographing mountains, designing tabletop games, weaving, cooking, or wandering outdoors looking for interesting stories hidden in ordinary systems.
